Neurodiversity Affirming Hypnotherapy
What is a Neurodiversity-Affirming Approach?
As a neurodivergent person myself, I have lived experience and met many challenges of navigating a neurotypical society. Having a neuroaffirming approach is central when working with you, as it recognises that neurological differences like Autism and ADHD (see full list below) aren't deficits, but rather natural variations in human brains.
My approach works with your unique neurological wiring, and is about recognising, respecting and validating your way of thinking, feeling, and perceiving the world.
Why a Neurodiversity-Affirming Approach is Important in Hypnotherapy
This approach is a crucial shift from the traditional medical model - which often pathologises neurodivergence - and the focus is on building trust and respect in order to create a safe therapeutic space. Many neurodivergent individuals have had previous negative experiences with medical professionals, types of therapies or other professionals that didn't understand them, and I will do all that I can to accommodate you.
Addressing Co-occurring Conditions:
Neurodivergent individuals, especially those with ADHD and Autism, are at a higher risk for co-occurring conditions like anxiety, depression, and trauma. As a neurodiversity-affirming hypnotherapist, I can help address these issues with the focus on managing symptoms and improving well-being, not on "curing" the neurodivergence itself.
Empowerment and Self-Advocacy

This approach helps individuals understand and appreciate their own brains. It moves you from a mindset of "something is wrong with me" to "my brain works differently, and that's okay." This empowers you to advocate for your needs and build a stronger sense of self-worth in your personal, social and work life.
